IdentaFone supports both SAPI 4 and SAPI 5 engines and your computer may already have voices installed depending on the Windows version.
All operating systems since Windows 2000 came with at least one voice. Windows 98 users will have to install the L&H TruVoice (SAPI 4) engine available here for download. The L&H TruVoice voices are better sounding than some of the installed SAPI 5 voices such as MicroSoft Sam so you may want to install them anyway even if using Win2000 or XP. Office 2003 also included SAPI 5 voices from Lernout & Hauspie, called LH Michael and LH Michelle. VISTA replaced the Microsoft Sam voice with the vastly improved female voice called Microsoft Anna. |
